Geography
Southern suburbs of Adelaide. Reynell covers Reynella, Old Reynella, Lonsdale and Morphett Vale. Reynell covers the north-western corner of Onkaparinga council area.
Redistribution
Reynell changed slightly on its southern border, losing part of Morphett Vale to Hurtle Vale and gaining the remainder of Christie Downs from Kaurna. These changes increased the Labor margin from 16.7% to 17.3%.
History
Reynell has existed as an electorate since the 1993 election. The seat was won by the Liberal Party at the 1993 landslide election, but has been won by Labor ever since 1997.
Julie Greig won the seat for the Liberal Party. She served one term, and lost to the ALP’s Gay Thompson in 1997.
Thompson was re-elected in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
Thompson retired in 2014, and was succeeded by Labor candidate Katrine Hildyard. Hildyard has been re-elected twice.

Booths have been divided into three parts: north-east, south-east and west.
Labor won a majority of the two-party-preferred vote in all three areas, ranging from 65.9% in the north-east to 73.2% in the west.
The Greens came third, with a primary vote ranging from 11.4% in the west to 12.4% in the south-east.
Family First came third, with just over 10% in the election day booths and 8.6% on the other votes.
