  1. This is an easy Joe McGirr hold, but Wagga Wagga has been dealing with a homelessness crisis where him, the Labor Government and Wagga Wagga council have copped a lot of flack. It’s mainly about the fact that the council ordered to remove homeless people from a caravan park, which has heavily strained the homeless accommodation system here which has led to people even sleeping in an abandoned mill. There’s apparently nights where every hotel is booked as a result of homeless people, aswell as evictions about people carrying too much luggage too. There was big protest outside his place in July too.

This shouldn’t mean too much electorally though, as he has no clear opponent. I think One Nation would make the count, but they’re heavily disadvantaged with the fact this seat is dominated by Wagga Wagga which they won’t do that amazing in, and the other small towns are Tumut, which is a more left-wing area of the seat. Only Lockhart & The Rock(maybe) could vote for One Nation by a significant margin. I would be surprised to see One Nation win a booth in Wagga Wagga(city). Maybe Ashmont at best. I don’t think One Nation’s the party that can attack Joe McGirr on the homelessness crisis, and Labor’s cuts in regards to domestic abuse initiatives in Wagga won’t affect Joe McGirr.
