The Tarneit population has exploded here and like many Western suburb seats there is angry that infrastructure is lagging. If the neighbouring seat of Werribee is competitive I suspect that this seat could get uncomfortably close in 2026 if the Liberals pickup their game which they don’t appear to be at the moment.
Don’t think Jacinta Price’s comments about Indian migrants would be very popular here. Labor will most certainly re-emphasise them come election time.
I agree with @Dan M i cannot see Libs winning it margin is pretty big and i think growth is helping Labor here bringing more CALD residents. There is also significant Muslim community here unlike Point Cook especially around Hoppers Crossing. Werribee as some white working class residents in the older parts which is why it is more competative.
There are many N-W Melbourne seats the Liberals can still win but this ain’t one of them
Tarneit Train Station is the busiest in Victoria outside the CBD. I can understand the anger and despair due to lagging infrastructure. The population has grown due to suburban sprawl. There’s a new train station in West Tarneit in the works. It might reduce some of the anger.
Longer term they need electrification of the Wyndham vale line to seperate regional and suburban commuters.
