Geography
Southeastern Melbourne. Dandenong covers parts of the City of Casey and the City of Greater Dandenong, specifically the suburbs of Dandenong, Dandenong North, Dandenong South, Doveton, Eumemmerring and Noble Park.
History
Dandenong has existed as an electoral district continuously since 1904. For the first half of the 20th century, Dandenong was dominated by the Liberal Party and its predecessors. The ALP only won the seat twice, in 1929 and 1952. The ALP won the seat off the Liberal Party in 1969, and have held the seat ever since.
The seat was won in 1992 by John Pandazopoulos. He served as a minister in the Bracks government from 1999 to 2006, and retired in 2014.
Labor’s Gabrielle Williams won Dandenong in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018 and 2022.

This is probably a safe Labor seat, although One Nation may poll strongly.

Toggle between two-party-preferred votes and primary votes for Labor and the Liberal Party.
Gabrielle Williams is very high profile and Labor has put some effort into fixing the area so I don’t see this seat becoming remotely close in fact despite the outcome in 2026 Labor could improve here.
Gabrielle Williams would be a better choice given the margin here so she can be out of this seat out campaigning plus she doesn’t have commonwealth games controversy or teachers pay dispute issue either.
@SpaceFish: Agreed. What’s more, replacing Jacinta Allan with Ben Carroll means removing a female leader in favour of a male one, the optics of which will be diabolical because it smacks of sexism. Replacing Jacinta Allan with another woman such as Gabrielle Williams will not have such an issue.
