Redistribution
Enfield shifted to the east, losing the balance of Kilkenny to Croydon at the western end of the seat, and gaining areas near Broadview from Torrens at the eastern end. This reduced the ALP’s margin from 10.5% to 9.0%.

History
The electorate of Enfield has existed since 2002, when it replaced the electorate of Ross Smith.

Ralph Clarke held Ross Smith for the ALP from 1993 until 2002, and rose to the position of deputy leader of the ALP in South Australia.

In 2002, Clarke was challenged for preselection by John Rau, who won the preselection with state executive support.

Rau won re-election in 2006 and 2010, and after the 2010 election was appointed to the ministry as Attorney-General.

Rau has served as Deputy Premier since February 2011.
