  1. You would think if Barnaby isn’t willing to cont st New England as a One Nation MP then why would Price or anyone else defect and give up a safe senate (or lower house if it’s someone else) seat to contest it.

  2. New England isn’t really prime One Nation territory in my view.

Barnaby Joyce in Oct said he won’t recontest but if he did, he’d at least have a shot thanks to his name recognition and profile. Lots of MPs have quit parties but then won reflections as independents.

  3. I could see ON doing well in New England – older, Anglo, regional and extends down into the Hunter. They might pick up some disaffected Labor voters (from those that are left). But unless the Nats were pushed into third behind Labor, the Labor and Greens preferences would presumably go to the Nats. Some sort of independent would be better placed.

  4. without Barnaby yes i agree One Nation could do uite well here. but it will still be a Coaltion win i think. i wouldnt be surprised if Warren Mundine tries for preselection here

  5. Warren Mundine? That would be a train wreck as he has no links to New England. Anyway he would be 71 – close to 72 – by the next election so his time has passed. Notwithstanding all the party hopping.

  6. He has been preselected for Dubbo, Gilmore and the senate. He ran for preselection in Fowler. Did he actually run for Bradfield or was that just talk.

  7. Cj the outlier is if the libs can make it into a 2pp against the nats and can get preferences. That’s about the only way they could.
