Geography
Outer northern Melbourne. Mill Park covers southern parts of the Ctiy of Whittlesea, specifically the suburb of Mill Park and parts of Bundoora, Epping, Lalor, South Morang and Thomastown.

History
The electoral district of Mill Park was first created prior to the 1992 redistribution. It has been won by the ALP at all five elections since it’s creation.

Mill Park was first won in 1992 by Alex Andrianopoulos who had held the seat of St Albans since 1985, before his district was abolished in 1992. He was elected Speaker of the Legislative Assembly after the ALP’s election win in 1999 and served in the role until his retirement in 2002.

Andrianopoulos was succeeded in 2002 by his former electorate officer Lily D’Ambrosio. D’Ambrosio was appointed to the Labor cabinet in 2010.

Booth breakdown
Booths in Mill Park have been divided into three areas. The central Mill Park includes a majority of voters, with a further 22% voting in the Lalor area at the southern edge of the seat. The Epping area at the northern end of the seat has the smallest voting block.

The ALP polled most strongly in the Lalor area, which was also the best area for Family First, who outpolled the Greens in the seat.

  2. No idea who this Lily D’Ambrosio is but she must be doing something right; got a swing to her in 2006 and suffered only a tiny swing against her this time.

  3. Very pleasant and down to earth her husband is Andrew Scott RMIT academic and prolific commentator on the state of the ALP. Maybe the Greens not having a single member in Mill Parl has something to do with it?
