Geography
Western Queensland. Gregory covers a large amount of the Queensland outback, covering a small part of the Queensland-South Australia border. Gregory covers the local government areas of Barcaldine, Barcoo, Blackall-Tambo, Central Highlands, Longreach, Boulia, Diamantina and Winton and Woorabinda. The seat covers the towns of Blackwater, Emerald, Barcaldine, Longreach, Clermont, Aramac, Rolleston, Bedourie, Winton and Blackall.
History
The seat of Gregory has existed continuously since 1878. The seat has been held by the Country/National/Liberal National party since 1957.
Wally Rae held the seat for the Country Party from 1957 to 1974. Bill Glasson of the National Party then held the seat from 1974 to 1989.
Vaughan Johnson won the seat for the National Party in 1989. He held the seat until 2015, when he was succeeded by LNP candidate Lachlan Millar. Millar was re-elected in 2017.

The LNP won a majority of the two-candidate-preferred vote (against One Nation) in all three areas, ranging from 53.1% in the east to 66.7% in the west.
Labor came third, with a primary vote ranging from 19.4% in the centre to 32.3% in the east.

Have to say I’m shocked One Nation haven’t chosen a candidate for this seat, and the IMOP party has (thinking they were more a SEQ/City based micro party).

Bruce Currie is running for a microparty, instead of an independent like the last three elections. I wonder whether that’ll be a good or bad thing for his vote. He’ll probably be one of the best polling candidates for Civil Liberties and Motorists, whoever they are.
Clint Rothery (One Nation) is the brother of Wade, who’s running for them in Keppel (and previously in Capricornia and Rockhampton).
