Litmus seat…..this should remain liberal unless there is a swing to labor
This is one to watch on election night. Labor hasn’t won this area in decades (either here or the old Gosford). Labor came surprisingly close last election.
There is an upper class, teal-ish demographic along the coast. The seat has become more popular with white collar professionals who commute for work but also want the coastal or suburban lifestyle. Gosford has grown as a public service hub. Such factors favour Labor.
One Nation is a wild card factor. They could split the non-Labor vote. Quite often, One Nation voters exhaust their votes rather than preference a major party. They may be protest voters or anti-major voters and won’t preference anyone else.
