Labor leadership spill tonight at 7pm

Julia Gillard has called a caucus meeting at 7pm for a leadership spill, and has said that if she loses she will leave politics.

I don’t have anything particularly to say at this point, so consider this an open thread to discuss the events of this evening.

  1. Combet said he was discussing this with dear Julia prior to her dumping.!!

“It is a matter that I had discussed over a period of months with the former prime minister Julia Gillard,” he said.

“My reasons are personal and are not attributable to the change in the leadership of the Labor party this week, although this has provided a catalyst for my decision.”

  2. Observer, I doubt I will be surprised since Australian polls tend to be pretty good. Also, I think Labor has a chance now. Where we differ is that you that are blinded to pitfalls. Incidentally, I think it is funny that you say I should wait until more of Rudd’s agenda is revealed, but then say it is strong. That is exactly the sort of projection of your hopes that I’ve warned you is bad for your mental health.
