History
The electoral district of Mount Druitt has existed continuously since 1991. It previously existed from 1971 to 1981. It has always been won by the ALP.

The seat was first won by Jim Southee in 1971. He had held the seat of Blacktown since 1962. He retired at the 1973 election.

Southee was succeeded in 1973 by Tony Johnson. He held the seat until its abolition in 1981, when he moved to the neighbouring seat of Riverstone. He retired in 1983.

The 1983 Riverstone-by-election was won by Richard Amery. He moved to Mount Druitt in 1991, and has held it ever since. He served as a minister in the Labor government from 1995 to 2003.

  1. I think with Richard Amery retiring, possibly loss of 5% personal votes, the candidate that works hard will win – borderline possibly!

  2. This will go to Labor for sure but am suprised its a 6% held seat
should be 30% at Mt Druitt Its like Brisbanes Inala or Melbournws Broadmeadow

But then again last time Campbelltown Granville and Smithfield went to Libs
Libs have Penrith too I think ?

Imagine a top preference deal and a switched on opponant could rattle the ALP here

But think ALP has it in the bag this time

  3. Well it’s only a 6% seat because of how badly Labor did in 2011. Before that it was held by 25%+ margins. Inala was held by a similar margin after the 2012 Queensland election.
