Geography
Outer south of Brisbane. Calamvale covers the suburbs of Algester, Calamvale, Drewvale, Heathwood, Parkinson and Stretton, right on the southern border of the City of Brisbane.
Redistribution
Calamvale is a new name for the ward of Parkinson, after it shifted east to take in the suburbs of Drewvale, Stretton and the balance of Calamvale from Karawatha ward. In exchange, Calamvale lost suburbs to the west to the wards of Forest Lake and Moorooka. These changes increased the LNP council margin from 17.1% to 18.1%, and the mayoral margin from 21.5% to 23%.
History
The Parkinson ward was created for the 2008 election, largely replacing the Acacia Ridge ward.
Labor’s Kevin Bianchi had won Acacia Ridge in 1991, and retained his seat in 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2004, the last time with a 3.8% margin.
In 2008, Bianchi retired and the new Parkinson ward, with a notional Labor margin of 1.3%. Liberal candidate Angela Owen-Taylor won Parkinson with a 7.6% swing, and in 2012 she was re-elected with a further 10.8% swing.
Owen-Taylor currently serves as Council Chairman.

Calamvale is the kind of ward which Labor could win at their peak but will not likely be a key priority at this election.

Booth breakdown
Only four ordinary booths were contained in the new ward of Calamvale, so there was no need to group them.
The LNP’s two-party-preferred vote was relatively consistent around 67-68% for the council election and 72-74% for the mayoral election.
