Seat #7: Banks – Australia 2013

Banks is a Labor marginal in southern Sydney. It is based in the St George and Bankstown areas on the northern side of the Georges River.

The seat has been held by Daryl Melham since 1990. Melham is the latest in a long line of Labor MPs who have held the seat continuously since its creation in 1949.

Despite that long history, the seat has become extremely marginal and vulnerable to the Liberal Party, particularly after a swing of almost 9% in 2010.
